Play your song everywhere
Your song is a real, high-quality MP3, tagged with its title, artist and cover art. Here's how to get it into the apps you already use.
Spotify
Spotify lets you add your own audio files as Local Files. Only you can see them, and you can drop the song into any playlist next to everything else you play. Works on free and Premium.
- On your song page, tap Add to my Spotify.
- In the share sheet, tap Save to Files, then On My iPhone β Spotify β Save.
- In Spotify: tap your profile picture β Settings and privacy β Apps and devices β turn on Local audio files.
- Open Your Library β Local Files. Tap the song, or add it to a playlist.
- On your song page, tap Add to my Spotify. The song saves to your phone's Downloads.
- In Spotify: tap your profile picture β Settings and privacy β Apps and devices β turn on Local audio files. Allow access to music and audio if asked.
- Open Your Library β Local Files. Tap the song, or add it to a playlist.
- On your song page, click Add to my Spotify. The song saves to your Downloads folder.
- In the Spotify app: click your profile picture β Settings β Library β turn on Show Local Files. Make sure Downloads is on under Show songs from, or click Add a source and pick the folder.
- Open Your Library β Local Files, then drag the song into any playlist.
Add it to a playlist on your computer and it can sync to your phone too: open that playlist on your phone while it's on the same Wi-Fi, and download it. Spotify's web player can't play local files, so use the app.
Apple Music
Import the MP3 into your Music library on a computer, and with Sync Library turned on it appears on your iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, cover art and all. Only you can see it.
- On your song page, click Apple Music. The song saves to your Downloads.
- Open the Music app and choose File β Import, then pick the song. (Or just double-click the file.)
- To get it on your iPhone: in Music, go to Settings β General and turn on Sync Library. On your iPhone, Settings β Apps β Music β turn on Sync Library. Signed in with the same Apple Account, it shows up in a few minutes.
- On your song page, click Apple Music. The song saves to your Downloads.
- Open the Apple Music app for Windows (or iTunes) and choose Import from the menu, then pick the song.
- Turn on Sync Library in the app's settings, and on your iPhone (Settings β Apps β Music), to get it on all your devices.
- Apple Music on iPhone can't import files by itself, so it needs a computer once. Use the Mac or Windows steps, and Sync Library sends it to your phone.
- No computer? Tap Add to my Spotify or Download MP3 instead. iPhone's Files app plays the song too: tap it in Files β Downloads.
Syncing your own songs needs an Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription. Without one, you can still sync with a cable from a Mac (Finder) or iTunes.
SoundCloud
Great for sharing: upload it as a Private track and you get a secret link that plays on any phone, no app or account needed for the listener.
- On your song page, tap SoundCloud. The song downloads.
- Go to soundcloud.com/upload and sign in (a free account works), then choose the file.
- The title and cover art fill in automatically. Under Privacy, choose Private before you tap Save.
- Tap Share on the track and copy the private link. Anyone with the link can listen; nobody else can find it.
Uploading from your phone works in the SoundCloud app too (tap Upload). Want the song public instead? Keep it labelled as AI-made, as SoundCloud asks.
YouTube
YouTube needs a video, so use your lyric video (Gift and Signature songs) or your 30-second clip, then post it as Unlisted: only people with the link can watch.
- On your song page, make a lyric video (in Sing it together) or a 30-second clip (in Listen anywhere), and save it.
- In the YouTube app, tap + β Upload a video (on a computer, Create β Upload video at studio.youtube.com) and choose the file.
- Set visibility to Unlisted (link only) or Private (only people you invite).
- When YouTube asks about altered or synthetic content, answer Yes: the song is made with AI.
Perfect for weddings and memorials: add your own photos to the lyric video, and the link plays on any TV with the YouTube app.
Anything else
It's a standard MP3, so it plays in everything: your phone's music or files app, a car over Bluetooth or USB, a smart speaker, a DJ app, a wedding playlist, or a group chat. Tap Download MP3 on your song page. Or skip the file entirely: the gift link plays the song with its lyrics in any browser, and casts to a TV with AirPlay or Chromecast.
Good to know
Can you put it on Spotify for everyone to hear?
Not right now. Everything here is private to you and the people you share it with. Public release on streaming services is something we're looking at for the future.
Why can't you just connect to my Spotify account?
Spotify and Apple Music don't let any app upload songs into your account, so the file has to go onto your device. That's why the button on your song page prepares the file and walks you through the last few taps.
Will it show the right name and cover art?
Yes. The file comes tagged with the song title, βNelson Studio Β· forβ and their name as the artist, and your album cover, so it looks like any other song in your library.
Lost your song page?
It's in the βsong is readyβ email we sent you. Can't find it? Email hello@nelsonstudio.ca from the address you ordered with.
Instagram & TikTok
Your song can't be added to the apps' music libraries, but you can post it as your own video with the sound built in.
Turn on the app's AI-generated label when you post. If an app won't take the clip, make it on your phone or in Safari, which save the most compatible video.
